The Flavian Amphitheater, better known as the Colosseum, began around the year 71 AD under Emperor Vespasian AD. The Colosseum was built in a valley after drying up a small lake that Nero used for the Domus Aurea between the Palatine, Esquiline, and Caelian hills. The Colosseum became the largest Roman amphitheater, with an elliptical structure 188 meters long, 156 meters wide and 57 meters high. Made of brick and covered in travertine, it was divided into five levels with a capacity of more than 50,000 people. Its areas were defined and categorized according to social class-the closer they were to the arena, the higher the rank to which they belonged.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Later in the 19th century, settlement and remodeling work was done on the Colosseum, and although during World War II it suffered the effects of attacks this majestic and imposing monument became a cultural asset of the city and the world surviving time and wars.<\/p>

The Roman Colosseum is now the symbol of Rome in the world, and has been considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World becoming a historical and archaeological treasure that can remind us of the greatness of the Roman Empire. According to an estimate by the Ministry of Culture, the Flavian Amphitheater receives 6 million visitors a year and ranks first among the most visited monuments in Italy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Roman Forum is a true sanctuary of ancient Rome, where basilicas, temples, the Curia of the Senate, the Tribune of the Oratories or the House of the Vestals were once erected. Today we can only see its ruins, but you can relive its history in each of these magnificent settings. In the valley of the Roman Forum stands the Palatine Hill, where there are the ruins of the imperial residence whose construction was started by Augustus and completed by his successors; here you can visit the seats, basilicas, underground tunnels, etc.<\/p>

The Colosseum is part of the history of an empire that, for the amusement of Roman citizens, here organized gladiatorial fights or against ferocious animals and fantastic spectacles such as the “naumachiae,” real naval fights in an arena filled with water. Beneath the Colosseum arena were numerous corridors and rooms used to house gladiators and ferocious animals that could be brought to the center of the arena by a series of elevators and access ramps.<\/p>
